I’m an independent branding consultant, creative strategist and copywriter with more than 20 years’ experience. I am flexible, affordable and I believe in working with you rather than just for you, sharing ideas at every stage of the job.
I love getting my head around new brands and brand refreshes. I love the challenge of creating multi-media campaigns that genuinely engage with people rather than simply talking at them. And I love writing – headlines, straplines, long copy, short copy, websites, brochures, video scripts, radio scripts, direct mail – right down to the small print.
In fact, I love writing so much that I do it in my spare time too – not long ago I graduated with distinction from the Creative Writing MA at Lancaster University. I went on to train in writing for wellbeing, and for several years I've been facilitating writing workshops in which people get to take a mini-break for the imagination – something that can work wonders for your wellbeing.
My experience spans many different industries and all media. I'm equally at home working on a big brand refresh or helping to set the creative strategy for a small charity. I'm happy working through-the-line, business-to-business and on internal comms campaigns – and I particularly relish work around change and sustainability.
What my clients say
Janet is the best copywriter I have ever worked with. She is the consummate wordsmith. Not only does she say what needs to be said – succinctly, directly and beautifully – I have never once read her copy without thinking “Oh! I wish I could write like that.”
Deborah Ross McKay, former Senior Marketing Manager, Arcadia
Janet is an excellent writer and creative thinker who is able to communicate complex messages with great clarity and persuasion. Her input into the launch and development of our Plan A campaign has been invaluable.
Steven Sharp, former Executive Director, Marketing, M&S
It is a privilege working with Janet to enhance our profile. I will always choose her for any communications work as she deeply understands the issues that we represent – and so is able to communicate effectively to all our customers, both fair trade supporters and those who are new to the issues.
Leni Lewis, owner, Shakti Man fair trade store
Janet is such a good facilitator and really brings the best out of everyone. The exercises were so well-chosen and expertly delivered, and each session provided so many different opportunities to tune in to our creativity.
